League Rules

The rules are still subject to change by SBC Hoops Administration:

Game Play:
- 4 on 4 - Play the walls out of bounds.
- Jump balls always go to defense.
- Player inbounding ball must not step over baseline when passing in.  
- Play must begin from top of the key after a check with defense or behind baseline.
- Ball must be passed in on all inbounds plays whether behind the baseline or top of the key.
- Defensive player must allow pass in from top of key but can guard ball along baseline.
- Offensive player may run baseline when inbounding but must keep a pivot foot when beginning play from top of the key.
- Shirts worn identifying teams must be distinguishable per referee’s discretion.
- No swearing on the court - excessive swearing can constitute a personal foul at referee’s discretion.
- Jump balls always go to the defense. In the event of a loose ball jump ball we will use alternating possession. Meaning if a team started with the ball at the beginning of the half the other team will win the jump ball.
- Under one minute left in the game. All inbound plays made after a timeout or dead ball will be inbounded from the side at half court.

Clock:
- 25 minute running clock in first half and 25 minutes for second half with clock stopping on dead balls inside of 3 minutes.
- 3 seconds will be called for players in the lane.
- Inside of two minutes the clock begins when it touches a player and continues until stoppage of play by referee.

Fouls:
- Shoot 1 and 1’s after 7th team foul per half.
    o No distinction between shooting foul or non-shooting foul.
    o Shoot 1 and 1 on offensive foul as well after 7th foul.
- Shoot two (2) foul shots after 10th team foul.
- Players do not foul out of game.
- Referee can give a technical foul which constitutes two (2) foul shots and possession for opposing team of the person receiving technical foul. A player is kicked out of the game and not allowed to play the next game no matter if regular season or playoff after two (2) technical fouls in one game.

Referees: - At least one (1) referee per game.
- Referee always makes the foul call, no players calling fouls.
- NO arguing with referee over calls.
- Referee can give technical fouls which constitute two (2) foul shots and possession. After two (2) technical fouls on a player you are kicked out of game and not allowed to play next game; regular season or playoffs.
